Flag rugby returns to the Lakefront 7s

This year, 24 area teams will join the 100 high school, collegiate and adult rugby teams that are heading to the shores of Lake Michigan for the annual pilgrimage to the mecca of rugby sevens in America, the Lakefront 7s.

Flag rugby is a non-contact version of the popular full-contact sport played at about 30 high schools in Wisconsin.

In place of contact, elementary and middle-school participants wear two flags (or tags) attached at the waist by velcro.

When a defender pulls a flag free, the ball carrier has 3 seconds to pass the ball (see full details here).

If you are in the area and interested in rugby, drop by the Flag Rugby Cup area and check it out.
