New Lakefront 7s sponsor offers $1000 in prize money

In 2009, USA Sevens LLC brought together 5 of the finest rugby sevens tournaments in United States with the intent of developing a domestic circuit for the sport. Teams competed in these five tournaments (Vegas Midnight Sevens, Cape Fear Sevens, Denver 7s, Kansas City Blues Sevens, New York Sevens) to qualify for the Championship Cup.

After careful discussion and planning, we are thrilled to announce that the CCS will be expanded in 2010 to include our very own Milwaukee Lakefront 7s as well as PAC (Washington, D.C.).

Clubs competed in five qualifying tournaments all over the USA competing for ten spots, with two wild card spots open for two others. Life University qualified but had to pull out, leaving three wild card spots, filled by Old Blue, the Chicago Lions, and San Francisco Golden Gate.

At the Lakefront 7s, CCS teams will play in the top M’en’s bracket that has been traditionally restricted to teams competing for the USA Rugby Midwest qualifier. Additional matches will be added to the bracket as required to ensure that all USA Rugby points are awarded to the top-ranked non-CCS teams.

Among the extra promotional opportunities provided by USA 7s LLC, $1000 in prize money will be awarded to the winning team in this bracket.
