As summer creeps closer and closer we are gearing up for the 37th Lakefront 7s Tournament!
For those of you who don’t know me my name is Joseph Kloiber (aka ‘Big Baby) and I played for the Westside Harlequins starting in 2005 and then for the Milwaukee Barbarians. Starting in 2015 I began a charity golf outing that runs the Friday before Lakefront 7s.
It’s a scramble style event, meaning everyone hits their ball, and then takes their next shot from the best spot of the foursome, and continues until the ball is in the hole. With lunch and a couple drinks tickets included, this event is not really to find out who the best golfer is, rather to get together with friends and raise a couple of bucks for a good cause.

Papa Joe
For those of you who don’t know my father “Papa Joe” helped start the Harlequins back in 1975 and served as player, coach, and president over the years. He is one of the many reasons the Harlequins/Barbarians reached Division 1. As someone who hit the pitch as a player in 6 different decades, coached men’s and high school, organized rugby tours overseas numerous times, and founded the Lakefront 7s, Papa Joe has made countless contributions to the sport we all love.
Aside from all that, working 3 jobs, raising 8 kids, running multiple marathons, and being an avid cyclist, Papa Joe played golf – hence the golf outing. Because of Parkinson Disease Papa Joe has difficulty doing certain physical things, but he still loves to be around the game we all love. You’ll still find him with canes in hand either at the pitch to continue to support the team or at the after-match waiting for someone to ‘shoot the boot.’
