Barbarians defend Men’s Open/Social title

The Milwaukee Barbarians (Milwaukee, WI) – playing as the Racing Sausages — have successfully defended their 2018 Men’s Open/Social championship.

Having gone 3-0 in pool play, the tournament hosts faced the top-seeded Dream Thiems (Green Bay, WI) in the first semi-final. In a close 19-12 match, Milwaukee defeated Thiems by just a single converted try.

On the other side of the bracket, the South Side Irish (Chicago, IL) and the Condors (Chicago, IL) battled for a place in the championship. The Irish punched their ticket with a dominant 24-7 victory over their cross-town rivals.

In a classic Milwaukee vs. Chicago match-up, the Barbarians and Irish competed fiercely in another nail-biter with Milwaukee getting the edge. At the final whistle, the 19-12 score gave the Barbarians their second consecutive championship in the Men’s Open/Social division.
