The Pulaski Alumni made their dramatic debut at the Lakefront 7s in 2021 by winning the Men’s Social division. This year, they took a big leap forward by earning top honors in the Men’s Competitive division.
In the seeding round, the Roos matched with Milwaukee RFC, Wisconsin RFC (Madison, WI) and the Riverboat Gamblers (Dubuque, IA) in pool B. Across three matches, Pulaski dominated. With an undefeated record, they scored 91 points while only giving up 12 on defense.
As the first seed in Pool B, Pulaski met the Celtics (2-1-0 record; Green Bay, WI) — the second-seeded team from Pool A — in semi-final 1. They continued their winning ways with a 45-7 scoreline.
In the other semi-final, a familiar derby played out between cross-town rivals Milwaukee RFC (2-1-0 record) and the Milwaukee Barbarians (1st seed pool A; 3-0-0 record). A close match throughout, the Barbarians edged ahead 28-19 to punch their ticket to the championship match.
Despite growing in confidence as the day progressed, Pulaski found themselves on the defensive early on in the final. Many phases of Barbarian attack at the opening of the match required patience and a commitment to tackling.
Pulaski’s patience and determination paid off with an early turnover-try and they never looked back. Outscoring the hosts 7 tries to one, Pulaski wrote their names in the Lakefront 7s history books with a 33-7 victory.
