Sparta Rock (Rockford, MI) are the 2022 High School Girls champions. But at the start of the day, it wasn’t clear how dominant they would be.
In the first pool stage match Sparta Rock were tested by a skilled Badger Academy side. The Wisconsin select side held the powerful Michigan team to their smallest margin of the day, just 12 points separating the teams. Sparta Rock won the match 17-5, and used this to set the pace for the rest of the event.
Sparta Rock scored 87 points in the remaining pool matches without conceding a single point to enter the playoffs as the first seed.
2022 High School Girls playoffs
In the semi-final, the Sparta Rock offense continued to fire with a 29-5 victory over Eagan (Eagan, MN).
In the final, Sparta Rock fired on all cylinders with a comprehensive 50-0 victory over Hamilton (Sussex, WI).
All told, Sparta Rock captured the championship with a 5-0-0 record and a 173 point differential (183-10 PF-PA).
“We knew that the tourney would be tough since all the teams play a normal 7’s league”, said Sparta Rock head coach Andy Dauser. “So our only goal was to make sure we played better as the day went on and really focus on our defense”.
