From working the team checkin area in years-passed, to hosting the official after-party, to competing at the event, the Milwaukee Scylla are fixtures at the Lakefront 7s. And now they are the 2022 Women’s Super Social champions.
Perhaps best known for their 2017 USA Rugby Championship, the Milwaukee Scylla were late entrants to the 2022 Lakefront 7s. Following a last-minute cancellation, they agreed to play to complete the Women’s Super Social bracket.
The Scylla racked up confident wins in their first two pool matches against the Chaos (27-0; Appleton, WI) and Lady Ravens (36-0; Rockford, IL). But in the third pool match they leaked 14 points to Chiefs RFC (Yorkville, IL) on their way to a 27-14 victory.
As the top-seed following pool-play, Scylla cruised to a 39-0 victory over the Hamilton Alums to book their spot in the final against in-state rivals WWRFC (Madison, WI).
WWRFC has their own National Championship (2015) so the 2022 Women’s Super Social final was set to be an exciting contest. Not surprisingly, the match was highly competitive with Scylla nudging past WWRFC 22-15.
