We have lots of local sevens news to report this week including tournament results, an update on tag rugby, and a look ahead to this weekend’s events.
Lighthouse 7s (Fond du Lac, WI)
The Lighthouse 7s was held in Fond du Lac last weekend. Milwaukee RFC made their first appearance of the year and defeated the Milwaukee Barbarians in the final match to take the Championship.
Madtown 7s (Madison, WI)
In Madison, two Chicago teams battled in the Men’s title match at the Madtown 7s. The Blaze edged the Lions 19-15 in an upset victory.
On the Women’s side, the Lions had more success and dominated Chicago Northshore in the women’s final.
Wisconsin Tag Rugby
Wisconsin Tag Rugby programs across the state have trained for a few weeks now. On Saturday, they held a referee training in Fond du Lac.
On deck this weekend
There’s lots of summer rugby coming up this Saturday:
- The first Tag Rugby tournament of the season will take place in Oshkosh. For details, contact Dan Zeroth.
- Harborfest 7s kicks off in Kenosha. They are still looking for two High School and a few Men’s teams to register. For questions, please contact John Murphy.
- The first Midwest qualifier event is the Firehouse 7s hosted by the Chicago Blaze in Lemont, IL.
